Richard Berman
Consultant in Supportive & Palliative Care
Prof Berman has been working as Consultant in Supportive & Palliative Care and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Cancer Sciences at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, Europe’s largest single-site cancer centre, since 2006. His main clinical interest is in supportive care in cancer care (supportive oncology). He has written several key papers on the topic and co-edited the UKASCC Handbook of supportive oncology.
His team pioneered NHS England’s Enhanced Supportive Care programme – an initiative set up to implement and embed supportive care services within cancer centres in England. Dr Berman is a founder member of the UK Association of Supportive Care in Cancer, Founder Director of Supportive Care (UK) Ltd, and deputy clinical director for supportive oncology at The Christie.
